What is connect?

Some definitions refer to ‘Joining two devices or systems, so that the necessary relationship between them is established to work together’. Other theories speak of the relationship contacting one thing with another so as to form a single thing.

During this project we have been exploring different ways of connecting Santa Engracia with specific areas of Badajoz, and their impact.

The project has taken into account the physical mobility according to different speeds -pedestrian, bicycle, car, bus, train and plane- at different scales of operation -neighborhood, city, country, and world-. We have enhanced the functional relationships, strengthening the existing and creating new ones. Furthermore, we had analyzed the existing infrastructure in order to create a system of urban spaces to ensure the continuity of ecosystems. Finally, we have studied the virtual connections as visual relationships, online, radio and television, and any relevant processes as signage or information.

Santa Engracia district will get activated, diversified, recovered and revaluated. The different strategies to achieve these connections are explained in the city layouts, where their corresponding actions and future consequences are both imagined and detailed…this is the result!
